Governor Inuwa Yahaya Mourns His Former Adviser, Godfrey Birba
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of his former Special Adviser on Drugs and Narcotics, Mr. Godfrey Birba.
The late Godfrey Birba passed away today, Thursday after a protracted illness at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe.
In his message of sympathy, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the late Godfrey Birba as a humble, dedicated, and courageous gentleman who served the state and the nation meritoriously.
He said the death of the former Adviser is a huge loss not only to his immediate family but to the entire state, given his valuable counsel and service to Gombe State and the nation.
"The demise of Godfrey Birba is a painful loss to all of us," the Governor remarked. "His commitment to the fight against drug abuse and his service to the people of Gombe and Nigeria will be remembered with deep respect and admiration."
Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged the Birba family and Nyuwar community in Balanga local government area to find solace in the knowledge that their loved one lived a life of purpose and left behind a legacy worthy of emulation.
He offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased, asking God to grant him eternal rest and to comfort the bereaved family during this difficult time.
Born in 1952, the late Mr. Birba was before his appointment as Special Adviser during Governor Inuwa Yahaya's first tenure, a retired Deputy Director in the Department of State Service (DSS).
As announced by family, the remains of the late Godfrey Birba will be laid to rest on Saturday, September 1, 2024, in his hometown, Nyuwar, Balanga Local Government Area.
