Governor Inuwa Yahaya flags off distribution of I.D Cards to 1000 Almajiri beneficiaries under Gohealth equity programme 


...pledges continued commitment to provision of quality healthcare 


 In a renewed commitment to ensuring the provision of affordable and accessible healthcare services to all categories of people in the state, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, (Dan Majen Gombe) extends Gombe contributory healthcare management scheme to vulnerable persons reaching out to 1000 Almajiri students.


  The program conducted at Custodian Hotel Gombe marked the distribution of Identification cads to beneficiaries where the governor expressed profound commitment to provision of quality healthcare to the people in the state.


  Represented by his Deputy Manassah Daniel Jatau, Ph.D, Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration's commitment to removing every barrier that blocks access to enjoying affordable and accessible healthcare services in view of the significant role of health as driver of other sections of the economy.


  "  His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, his administration's great political will to the well being of the residents of Gombe State and unwavering commitment to health care has made this program a success. People who could have found it difficult to access medical facilities and services are largely doing o now".


" Since inception of this administration on 29th May 2019, we have demonstrated commitment to provision of quality healthcare. This is because health is pivotal to driving all sections of the economy" 


  The Governor said the the enrollment of 1000 Almajiris being a vulnerable group into the Gohealth program is a significant milestone in the state considering that their lifestyle makes them vulnerable to be infected with communicable diseases which may spread wider if not controlled.He said this gesture of the government will go a long way in mitigating the incidences of illnesses and outbreak of epidemics in the society.


" The lifestyle of the Almajiris exposes them to harsh environment making them liable to illnesses. If we do not take care of them none of us will be safe because sicknesses spread through people. Providing healthcare to everybody in the society is the only way Universal Health Coverage can be attained" he said.


The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru explained that the government's intention is to provide the Almajiris with religious and circular education as well take care of their health needs for them to contribute their own part to the development of the state and the nation.


  Dr. Habu Dahiru further explained that indications are that almost all epidemics and communicable diseases start from the Almajiri environment because they are not really taken care of, pointing out that government is now fully committed through collaboration and Frontline ministries to ensure they enjoy the best of life.


  In their separate remarks the Chairman , Governing Board, Gombe State Contributory Health Management Agency, Dr. Mohammed Isa Umar and Hajiya Amina Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi applauded the effort of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the enrollment of Almajiri students into the Gohealth scheme describing the gesture as a landmark development.


 They called on all well meaning people to offer helping hands in the program for the enrollment of more Almajiri and other categories of vulnerable people since health care delivery is not something that government alone can do.


  Goodwill messages came from the representative of the World Health Organization and the Coordinator National Health Insurance Scheme, Gombe State who commended the government for his unwavering effort to ensuring citizens enjoy quality healthcare, also commended the efforts of the Executive Secretaries Gohealth, Dr. Abubakar Musa and State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abdulrahaman Shuaibu for living up to their responsibilities.


  Mallam Goni Salisu delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the governor's concern to give the Almajiris a new lease of life by attending to their health needs.


  Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of Identification cads which would grant the Almajiris the opportunity to be treated in primary health care centres, secondary health facilities and even tertiary health institutions on referral. 


The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the Head if Civil Service, Alh Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi and Honorable Commissioners as well as the Permanent Secretary Deputy Governor's Office, Mrs Larai Maigari among others, were all in attendance
